How to Get from Kayseri Airport to Cappadocia (Nevşehir)

Most visitors flying to Cappadocia land at Kayseri Erkilet Airport (ASR). The airport is in Kayseri, but the Cappadocia towns of Göreme, Ürgüp, Uçhisar and Avanos are in Nevşehir province, so there's still about an hour's drive after you land. This guide covers every way to get from Kayseri Airport to Nevşehir and your Cappadocia hotel, with travel times, pros and cons.
How far is Kayseri Airport from Cappadocia?
Erkilet Airport is about 5 km from Kayseri city centre. By road it's roughly 75–85 km to Göreme and Ürgüp, and a little further to Nevşehir city centre. The drive usually takes between 1 hour and 1 hour 15 minutes, depending on traffic and which town you're heading to.
1. Airport shuttle (the easiest affordable option)
Shuttles are timed to flight arrivals: the driver meets you at the airport exit and drops you at your hotel door in Cappadocia. Because you pay per person, it's the best value for solo travellers and couples, with no changes and no hauling luggage between buses.
Seats are limited, so book ahead. Your flight number and hotel name are all we need. See our Kayseri Airport shuttle page for details.
2. Private VIP transfer (for families and groups)
If you don't want to wait for other passengers, land late at night or travel as a large family, a private transfer is the most comfortable choice. The vehicle is yours alone, your flight is tracked and the driver waits even if you're delayed. Choose a VIP Vito transfer for up to 6 people or a VIP minibus for bigger groups. For a full vehicle, the cost per person often comes close to the shuttle.
3. Public transport: taking the bus to Nevşehir
There's no direct bus from the airport to Göreme or Nevşehir. By public transport the journey has two legs:
- Get from the airport to Kayseri city centre or Kayseri Bus Station (otogar) by city bus, HAVAŞ shuttle or taxi.
- From Kayseri Bus Station, take an intercity bus or minibus towards Nevşehir, Ürgüp or Göreme.
- If you get off in Ürgüp or Nevşehir, you may need a taxi or dolmuş to reach your hotel.
This can be the cheapest way, but with changes and waiting it can take 2–3 hours in total, and there are fewer departures in the evening. Check timetables before you travel.
4. Taxi
Taxis are easy to find outside arrivals, but the fare to Cappadocia can be higher than a shuttle or even a private transfer. Agree on the price before you get in.
5. Car hire
Car hire desks are available at the airport. A rental car makes sense if you're staying several days and want to explore at your own pace. Early-morning tours such as the balloon flight usually include hotel pickup, though, so you may not need a car just for tours.
Which option is right for you?
- Travelling solo or as a couple: shuttle.
- Travelling with family, children or lots of luggage: private VIP transfer.
- On a tight budget with time to spare: bus.
- Want to explore on your own: car hire.
Isn't Nevşehir Cappadocia Airport closer?
Yes. Nevşehir Cappadocia Airport (NAV) is about 30 minutes from Göreme, but it has fewer flights than Kayseri, so many travellers fly into Kayseri instead. If you land at NAV, you can use our Nevşehir Airport shuttle.
